Baptism
Adults who have not been baptized are invited to go through catechesis to prepare for baptism. See the Didache page for more information.
Children of members or regular attenders should be brought to the pastor as soon as possible for baptism.
Catechesis
If you are not a member of another Missouri Synod congregation, we invite you to go through a period of catechesis and discernment. Individuals or families meet together with the pastor to study the Scriptures and Catechism, and have an opportunity to ask any questions. Those who have already been baptized with water in the Triune NAME are Confirmed after examination by the Pastor. See the Didache page for more information.
If you are a member of another Missouri Synod congregation and have moved to the Washington, D.C. area, we will help you transfer your membership to Immanuel.
Please call the church office (703-549-0155) or email us.
Transfer
All members of Immanuel affirm that there is one God in three persons—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—as confessed in the Apostles’ and Nicene Creed; that the Holy Scriptures are the inspired, inerrant Word of God; that the doctrine of the Evangelical Lutheran Church, as outlined in the Small Catechism, is faithful and true to the Holy Scriptures; that they desire to lead a holy life; that they will faithfully attend Divine Service every Lord’s Day; that they will support Immanuel with their time, treasure, and talents; and that they will suffer all, even death, rather than fall away from this confession of faith.
