Immanuel Announces 2024-2025 Interim Headmaster

Alleluia! Christ is risen!

On behalf of Immanuel Lutheran Church and School, we are delighted to announce that Mr. Josef Hageman will serve as our Interim Headmaster for the 2024-2025 school year.

Mr. Hageman has served, and will continue to serve for the remainder of this school year, as our 8th grade homeroom teacher and the Upper School Latin, History, and Logic teacher. He has an excellent grasp of the classical model of education, and is a faithful Christian with an unwavering dedication to the Gospel. Inside and outside the classroom, he has shown himself to be a leader with deep concern for our students. As 8th grade homeroom teacher, he created a set of “Art of Manliness” classes for the 8th grade boys. These classes are a highlight of the year. This year, he has partnered with Miss Dubke and Miss Leithart to lead complementary “Art of Womanliness” sessions with the 8th grade girls.

A native of Montana, Mr. Hageman holds a B.A. in Economics and Classics, with a concentration in Latin, from the University of Notre Dame. Prior to joining the ILS faculty in 2021, Mr. Hageman was a full-time Latin teacher at another classical school, Anthem Preparatory Academy in Phoenix, Arizona. He has been a student at the International Academy of Apologetics, Evangelism, and Human Rights in Strasbourg, France, and plans to present a thesis at its next European Summer Study Session.

Many of you know Mr. Hageman from his three years of teaching at ILS, but we know that many of you have not yet had the pleasure of having him teach your child. Mr. Hageman is looking forward to getting to know each of you. There will be opportunities to do so in the coming weeks, so please be on the lookout for more information!

We thank Mrs. Parker and Mrs. Friddle for their continuing work as Interim Headmaster and Interim Assistant Headmaster for the 2023-2024 school year. They will be working closely with Mr. Hageman as he prepares for his new role next year.

As both a Classical and a Christian school, we are working to hire educators and administrators with very specific qualities and qualifications to best serve and educate your children. Please be assured that the Headmaster Call Committee continues to search for a permanent Headmaster for our beloved school.

On behalf of the entire Hiring Committee, we appreciate the many kind words of encouragement, patience, and support that we have received as the committee continues to do its work for the 2024-2025 school year.

We look forward to updating you about new additions to the ILS faculty and administration!

Rev. Christopher S. Esget, Pastor
Mrs. Amy Radtke, Chairman of the Hiring Committee and School Board Member
