Emily German Parish Music

Emily German is the Director of Parish Music and school music teacher at Immanuel. A graduate of Valparaiso University (with studies abroad in Germany), Emily received the Bachelor of Arts degree with a double major in Church Music and German. She is currently a student at Concordia Theological Seminary in the Master of Arts program.

Emily is an accomplished organist and pianist, and trained in advanced vocal/choral technique. She achieved the American Guild of Organists Service Playing Certification in 2011. Her past professional experience includes private teaching, and serving as Director of Music at St. Paul Lutheran, Chesterton, Indiana, where she played organ and directed adult and children's choirs. Emily is from Fort Wayne, Indiana, where she learned to love church music at historic St. Paul's Lutheran Church and School, singing in their renowned children's choir. She later attended Concordia Lutheran High School, where she was valedictorian.

At Immanuel, Miss German teaches in the parish school, assists Pastor Esget with service planning, directs choirs, coordinates and directs volunteer instrumentalists. She also plays the organ for some services, assisting Mrs. Barbara Pauling, Immanuel's principal organist.
