Six Questions with Mrs. Techau
1. What do you teach at ILS/what is your role at ILS?
I help put on mittens, zip coats, apply band-aids, open yogurt, patch up friendships, take dirty tissues, listen to stories, tell stories, and try to help Mrs. Honig. I'm an aide in the Jr.K room!
2. What does classical education mean to you?
There is one truth in this world, specifically the truth of salvation through Jesus Christ and the forgiveness of our sins. The product of this faith is the ever elusive respect and love of neighbor. This is Classical Lutheran education.
3. What is your favorite thing about ILS?
I have always loved chapel. I enjoy helping our youngest students learn about the church and the gifts we receive there. They begin here to learn about truth, beauty and love through the psalms, hymns and liturgy.
4. Who was one teacher who inspired you?
May I say teachers? All of my colleagues at Immanual inspire me daily. I'm in awe of their knowledge of content, enthusiasm, and love for their students. Way to go ILS teachers!
5. What is your favorite book? (What book has most inspired you?)
I have very much enjoyed a book we've been using for devotions, To live with Christ by Bo Geirtz. The writing is crystal clear, the law and gospel beautifully captured. Also, available in the narthax bookstore.
6. Please share one thing families wouldn't already know about you.
I have climbed 6 of the 54 “fourteeners' in Colorado. In fact, I miss being outside when our days are so cold, snowy and wet. I'm really looking forward to spring time and our school garden, but I guess most people know THAT about me.
